Bogács Medicinal and Open-air Bath
Medicinal Bath
Currently, six medicinal pools and pampering massages await bathers, however, it is recommended to stay in the water for only 20 minutes at a time. Every Saturday and on thematic holidays, night bathing is organized in the Bogács bath, where music-loving younger and older generations are welcome for the extraordinary bathing experience.
Medicinal Water
The medicinal water of its popular bath contains calcium-magnesium-hydrogen carbonate minerals, which offer a long-term solution for various rheumatic, joint, and musculoskeletal complaints. The thermal water that erupted during the test drillings provided an opportunity to open the medicinal bath, which happened in 1959.
Its medicinal water drinking fountain is excellent for dental and oral care, its alkalinity dissolves tartar, gum inflammation, chronic gastritis, constipation, gall and liver diseases, it's mucus-dissolving, mildly laxative, and acid-binding.
Open-air Bath
Among its outdoor pools, there are both medicinal and cold water pools. At the main entrance, there's a large medicinal pool with hydromassage, above it Bogács stone-covered columns hold its UV-filtered protective roof. The specialty of the twin pool is that a two-step sitting bench has been created around it, but their water temperatures are not the same. The butterfly pool is a special-shaped pool consisting of two symmetrical parts, one of which has a jacuzzi. For swimmers, the cold water pool provides refreshment, the shallower part can be used by children over 6 years old, while the deeper part can only be used by swimmers.
For children, the children's pool provides water entertainment, in the middle of which they can conquer a sphere slide. In the water playground, a water tunnel, water-spitting turtle, water mushroom, and tilting hydromassage bucket keep them occupied. From the age of six, they can also use the large medicinal pool.
How to Get There
In case of public transport, it's worth traveling by train from the capital and from the direction of Miskolc to Mezőkövesd, and from there by bus to Bogács, or there's also a service from Eger. By highway, it can be reached on the M3 line, turning off at the Mezőkövesd exit onto main road 3, or from Eger via Noszvaj
Hór Valley
The Hór Valley is Hungary's longest valley - 23 kilometers - which is one of the carefully tended and treasured gems of the Bükk National Park. The valley was once an important route, along which one could travel between Mezőkövesd and Diósgyőr. One entrance to the gorge is located at Cserépfalu.
The Hór Valley can be explored by bicycle or on foot, also from Bogács, where a rocky-gravelly path leads through a very beautiful, lush section of the forest.
Here you can even take a nearly 60-kilometer circular tour, with stops at Bogács, Subalyuk, the Oszla Country House, the Tebe meadow at the confluence of the Balla Valley and the Hór Valley, Bükkszentkereszt and the Lófő clearing on its border where King Béla IV fought the Tatars, then on paved road to Répáshuta, back to Cserépfalu and finally Bogács again.
